MEDB Ke Alahele Education Fund Benefit Dinner & Auction set for August 25th

Jul 5, 2018

On Saturday, August 25, 2018, Maui Economic Development Board (MEDB) will hold their annual MEDB Ke Alahele Education Fund Benefit Dinner & Auction at the Grand Wailea Resort.
This year’s event celebrates the achievements of our students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). Guests can bid on over 150 items during the popular Apples for Education Auctions; enjoy memorable presentations by Maui County’s STEM stars; a lively Jeopardy, the STEM Edition; and be the first to congratulate this year’s Daniel K. Inouye Innovation Award winner which honors the legacy of the late Senator. This annual award is presented to a Maui County project team that demonstrates the most innovative use of STEM tools and capabilities to serve and improve our community.
Proceeds raised will advance MEDB’s STEM education programs that span from kindergarten to careers; and support MEDB’s continuing efforts to build pathways that benefit the lives of residents in Maui County and statewide. Since the fund was launched in 2006, 328 grants totaling more than $1.2 million dollars have been awarded.
“We’re excited to be able to offer this grant making vehicle to further support the growing need for STEM education in Maui County and statewide,” said Curtis Tom, Sr. VP/Island Manager for Bank of Hawaii in Maui County and Chair of the MEDB Education Committee. “MEDB Ke Alahele Education Fund was created to provide our youth and educators with STEM skills in an effort to open doors to exciting career opportunities. Those who support this important fund through MEDB’s annual fundraiser are helping to make this investment in our state’s future workforce.”
