‘Human Skills in an AI World’ the topic of March Maui Tech ‘Ohana

Feb 9, 2026

A playful, interactive session focused on the ‘ohana piece of the Tech ‘Ohana will be hosted by Maui Economic Development Board on Wednesday March 11.  Doug Nelson, Founder & CEO, Kinection; Partner, The Prompt will be the featured speaker at the networking event. While AI is rapidly changing how tasks get done, strong human connection remains essential for communication and collaboration. In this session, participants will explore some of the human skills that matter most for effective collaboration, even as artificial intelligence becomes an increasingly important part of our work.

Nelson will use structured games and playful activities to help participants connect and share in ways that feel natural, energizing, and meaningful. He will explore three human skills—presence, risk-taking, and adaptability—to give all an experience how they can build safety, trust and connection.

“Expect to meet new people, learn something unexpected about others you may know casually, and leave with a fresh appreciation for why human skills are critically important in an AI-driven world,” said Nelson. He continued, “We’ll also talk about how you can bring these activities to your workplace to build these skills in your own teams.”

“Doug Nelson has been a supportive, informative and fun contributor to a number of MEDB events over the years as a speaker, coach and mentor,” said Annette Lynch, Program Director with MEDB. “This Tech ‘Ohana will be very engaging and beneficial to all attending.”

Supported by the County of Maui, Maui Tech ‘Ohana includes time for networking for small business owners to connect, collaborate and be resources for each other. The event is free to attend with check-in and networking starting at 5:00 pm at MEDB’s Malcolm Center in Kihei; before the presentation begins at 5:30 pm.

Registration is required to secure limited seats and livestream tickets are available for those unable to join in-person. The session is not recorded to encourage everyone to attend live to interact with the speaker and each other.
