Hacking 4 Oceans – STEM Talent Challenge

Oct 4, 2021

STEMworks™ has partnered with the University of Hawaii’s Office of Innovation and Commercialization (UH OIC), the Common Mission Project, and SOEST to launch a Hacking 4 Oceans (H4O) course at UH Manoa this Spring 2022! This course is funded in part by MEDB STEMworks’ Economic Development Administration STEM Talent Grant, and it will bring together select, multidisciplinary undergraduate and graduate-level student teams to engineer creative, innovative solutions for ocean-themed problems.

During the 16-week program, students will learn about problems facing our oceans from local problem sponsors, and be trained in the Lean Methodology and Mission Model Canvas. Student teams will each conduct 100 customer discovery interviews to seek solutions, and will receive support for prototyping their MVPs. If you are interested in joining the H4O ecosystem by submitting an ocean-themed problem or by volunteering as a business/Lean Methodology mentor, please reach out to Katie Taladay at katie@medb.org by November 1st, 2021.

Do you have another idea for a STEM challenge that you would like talented students to help you with that is not related to oceans? We can help. Reach out to katie@medb.org to ask about our STEMworks Solutions program
