Apr 13, 2021

The 12th Annual Hawaii STEM Conference will be presented virtually, April 28 – 30, with a student Hackathon to follow on May 1. MEDB is grateful for Microsoft’s continued support as the principal sponsor of the conference. This year, students and teachers will have the choice between 12 interactive professional development sessions over three days and the opportunity to engage with over a dozen STEM Playground Vendors to learn about new and exciting STEM products and resources!

There are seven STEM competition categories for students to have a shot at winning a coveted 2021 STEMMY award (and prizes!)

  1. Creative Media Moguls
  2. STEMworks Solution Student Spotlight
  3. STEMworks Designer
  4. Game On!
  5. STEM Tank
  6. Shaka! (In partnership with Bizgenics Foundation)
  7. AGOL StoryMap Competition (In partnership with Esri)

One of the invited Keynote speakers this year is Inventor, Author and TIME’s Kid of the Year, Gitanjali Rao. Rao was recognized as America’s Top Young Scientist and received an EPA Presidential award for inventing her device “Tethys”—an early lead detection tool. Gitanjali is also the inventor of “Epione”—a device for early diagnosis of prescription opioid addiction using genetic engineering, and “Kindly”—an anti-cyberbullying service using AI and Natural Language processing.

More speakers to be announced soon. Learn more at https://www.hawaiistemconference.org/
