MEDB’s Pitch Bootcamp gets people talking business.

Oct 18, 2016

On Wednesday, October 12, 16 residents from Lāna’i participated in MEDB’s Pitch Bootcamp Lāna’i. Originally held to ready participants for MEDB’s upcoming “Maka Hou Lana`i: Starting a Business From Concept to Creation” on October 21-23, the Pitch Bootcamp offered more than helpful tips for attendees, it also inspired future entrepreneurs.
Aaron Fernandez, Branch Manager at First Hawaiian Bank and Lāna’i High and Elementary School’s Wrestling Coach brought nine students to the workshop. “I wanted to get the kids comfortable with speaking in public and I think this workshop taught them what it takes to give a strong presentation while boosting their confidence. Plus I’m involved with non-profits and I think this will add to my tools in the business world.”

“I can definitely use the skill of the 60-second pitch in my career and job interviews,” said Demytri Dameg, a student from Lanai High & Elementary School. “One word to describe tonight’s Bootcamp – success.”
“After learning these skills I feel confident that when I go off to college I can present projects better,” said Joseph Nohara. “I can also use these helpful tips in my future career.”
